I saw this the other day and couldn't understand what was funny about it.

A friend dies so his online mates hold a group remembrance for him and a bunch of guys kill them all. Annnnd? Is the joke that someone died or that he had friends?

Must admit it made me chuckle, mostly because of the presentation.

I'd never have attacked if I knew what was going on. But it should be obvious that a non-contested area is better suited for a peaceful ceremony. You're not going to hold a funeral ceremony in Disneyland while in line for the rollercoaster. It is naive to think all 1000+ gamers will respect anyones wishes for any reason.

I second that Athame, There are much nicer safer places to hold these type of things, but to hold it in a contested zone is just stupid.

a) I have the sneaking suspicion that they would've crashed the remembrance anyway.

b) Could've been the deceased's favourite zone and thus the appropriate place to hold it.

c) Holding it in a contested zones lets both sides pay their respects. Some folks do respect the foes on the other side, with whom they've tangled on many an occasion. Paying your respects to a worthy foe.. It's the honourable thing to do imo.

And that's exactly why our world is the mess that it is. Very few folks are willing to be considerate to others and it's all about the self gratification, regardless of how that will effect others.

You guys don't know the full story~! It was held in Winterspring because it was the dead person's favorite fishing spot in the game. The alliance people knew what was going on. The horde posted it on the realm forums incase anyone else wanted to come. Plus the alliance's guild leader claims he knew about and disaproved, but didn't do anything to stop it.

yeah, I saw this video about a month ago (or whenever it came out - maybe like a half a month ago).

It's so good because they actually went through all the effort to set up some stupid e-funeral, but got ambushed in the middle of it (which is something the game is basically made for). I'd be so ashamed to have a funeral in WoW. I feel sorry for the guy who died for having such nerdy friends.

10/10 for the music though! I approve!

1. I did it to piss off those people that brought RL drama into a public video game. I did it because i think the idea of holding a memorial inside a video game is ridiculous and uncalled for, and frankly i think it's embarassing and even dissrespectful to the deceased.

the area that they held it in doesn't matter, it was just a mistake. the whole concept of acting out a funeral with your warrior cows or undead sorcerers is laughable to me, and i enjoyed crashing the event.

sending a card from strangers is wierd? how about sending them a video of you as computer game characters bowing and kneeling infront of your daughter's troll?

People die every day. I lost 2 family members last year, and i don't log on to a video game to expect complete strangers from all over the world to respect my loss. Most of them probably didnt know her outside the game.

That said i do feel sorry for her loss, i just don't feel a need to respect a bunch of dorks acting out a funeral in a video game. For me it wasnt about her, it was about the people in the game.

My opinon. The guys who held the ingame funeral were geeky morons and deserved everything they got for being geeky morons Sheesh. Get over yourselves already. With all the pain and sufferring in this world today and people feel the need to comment on this event over and over again. Official in us en eu, the unofficals here. Let's talk about the AIDS epidemic in Africa, let's talk about 300 children a day dying from famine in Africa (that's 12,5 kids every hour), let's talk about the child warriors of the Congo, let's talk about the Nuclear arms race in North Korea, let's talk about anything that actually means something worthwhile and not just some geeks getting upset that e-funeral with their silly pixels got wtfpwned. Haha! Long live Serenity the bringers of Reality to the geeky wow players. Makes me wanna get a us copy of wow just so I can be in that guild.
