Farming for mount cash

I have a level 37 human warrior and I am becoming increasingly worried on my lack of funds for a mount when I reach level 40. I cant seem to keep more than 8g at a time.

Can anyone recommend a good farming location or good way to make money so I can get my mount?

Thanks

How do I make enough money in WoW to stay afloat, you ask?

Answer: You need to play the market at the AH, this is in addition from any money you might make from selling off junk grey items, loot from grinding, and selling stuff that you get from the gathering professions.

First thing you need to do is get the Auctioneer Mod, located here :

http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=137

This is an older version, newer versions, as well as bug fixes can be found here at the Auctioneer Addon Homepage: http://auctioneeraddon.com/

Note that Auctioneer comes in two different packages, Auctioneer only and Auctioneer Complete. Always download the most stable version, this is know as the release version.

Direct Download links:
Auctioneer Complete: http://auctioneeraddon.com/dl/AuctioneerComplete/
Auctioneer Only: http://auctioneeraddon.com/dl/AuctioneerOnly/
Consider Telo’s Lootlink also, as it goes great with the AH Mod interface: http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2015

I’m going to skip how to install it, since most people know how to install a UI, if you need help installing this of updating the interface version of the mod then see then this forum is the place for you:
http://forums.worldofwar.net/forumdi...ysprune=&f=107

Now create a few macros, so you can work Auctioneer with a click.

First macro is /auctioneer scan.
Second macro is /auctioneer percentless
Third macro is /auctioneer bidbroker
Fourth and optional macro is /who (guildname)

The first time you log in after installing Auctioneer and after it works correctly type the command : /Auctioneer load always.

Doing this loads Auctioneer everytime you log into any of your toons.

The first time you log in with your AH toon, you will need to go and scan the AH in order for Auctioneer to start working. One scan of the AH normally takes between 12 and 15 minutes. During heavy lag times or peak server times, it could take 15 min to 25 or 30 minutes. After you scan the first time, you will see a readout from Auctioneer whenever you mouse ofer a weapon, amor or any other item that can be sold at the AH. It will give you the suggested Initial Bid and Buyout price, as well as the averages on how that item sells on the AH. All of this data is compiled and updated everytime you scan.

You can scan the AH by clicking the “scan” button located on on the browse page of the AH, or by use of the macro “/auctioneer scan”

After you scan you will want to run the other two macros , these are /Auctioneer Percentless and /Auctioneer Bidbroker.

/Auctioneer Percentless gives you a list that is based on your last complete scan, it lists all items on the AH that have a Buy Out below the normal market value, and how much profit you can make from buying that item out and reselling it, with a percentage value for profit gained.

/Auctioneer Bidbroker works a bit different, it generates a list like /Auctioneer Percentless does, but the information is based off of the initial bid, it also gives you how much of a profit you can make in a percentage, as well ad the time left on the current auction, I.E. Short, Long, or Very Long. With this command, you bid on items, and hope you get the winning bid. Scanning once is not enough. You need to scan often!

The whole point of scanning the AH is not to buy out an item and hope it sells right away. This does not always happen, instead what you do s treat it like the stock market, and buy out a few items, and list them, as long as your AH toon has the cash to spend, invest some of it.

Don’t worry much about losing money at the AH from something not selling, it’s not enough to make much of a difference.

There is no need to play the Auction House market to get your mount cash, just be a bit sensible that's all. You've probably left it a bit late to start now, but here are some tips for your next alt.

1. Saving for your mount starts at level 1. That means picking up and vendoring every piece of grey trash you see and not spending too much in the AH.

2. Pick sensible professions. You don't have to go Skinning+Mining, but you should avoid taking two crafting professions.

3. Be prepared to let things slide a bit when you are approaching 40. Don't sink money into a crafting profession, the latest greatest weapon/armour or too many pots. That can wait until after 40.

4. If you get to 40 and don't have the money for your mount, don't worry too much. You will earn money at a faster rate now so you can grind faster.

Give us a few hints on your professions and that may make the advice more specific.

If one is very low drop it for enchanting ... or should I say DIS enchanting?!? *raises pinky finger to mouth looking evilly perplexed*

Easy way to make cash is to disenchant anything that you can put your hands on and sell the mats. At your level Shadowfang would be an easy grind with 2 - 3 blues a pop and the chance to get the Assasination blade dagger (twink dagger sells on most servers for 300g) DE all the greens, sell all the vender trash and wool - wool sells for major cash most servers. You can make about 3g a run selling the DE's if you are unlucky, more if you get some nice runs in.

This also goes for the Graveyard in SM, it is harder to run, usually fewer green drops but the mobs drop more cash and the quality of the greens is higher. It probably breaks out close to even but SFK is easier and SM will level you.

If you really don't want to drop a profession (and lets face it - most of us wouldn't) you can mail the BOE stuff to a DE Alt - DE alt is actually a good idea for most people since there are often things that no one on your faction will buy in AH and the vendor is too cheap to pay you much, DE is cheap, easy and kind of like a slot machine ... with better odds.

I ground to 40 in Feralas on the Grim Totems - I was a hunter though so that may be stretching a bit without a pet. They dropped heaps of Mageweave and the grey stuff off the animals sold very well.

Best of luck, hope some of this helped

I only had 50ish gold when I hit 40. Determined to have a mount, I farmed the Rock Elementals in Badlands. Make as much room in your bags as you can: they drop a lot of different types of rocks, they stack but some only up to 5. Loot everything and when you're full, sell it all to a vendor. Some can even sell on the AH (Elemental Earth, Solid Stone, Heavy Stone). Good experience and cash for that level.

Edit: Since you are human, I wouldn't choose the spot near Kargath (in the northwest) but there is another spot along the mountains in the south. View Map. Unlike near Kargath, there are no Lesser Rock Elementals there, so you may want to wait till 40.

Mailing your excess gold to a low-level alt (and not retrieving it until you have enough to buy the mount) is a good way to ensure that you don't accidentally spend it on some impulsive purchase.

Thank you all for your advice guys, I will use it wisely.

And @ Gorny: I already had the auctioneer mod, but I didn't realise it had all those functions, thanks for explaining it to me.

My mage alt is level 35 and has 85g so far.

Didnt send any gold from my main to that char, all made trough skinning and mining. Its easy enough to drop either at a later time to pick up an actual crafting proffesion.

Thing is, you cant make any decent profits with most of the crafting profesions until they hit 300 and you get some rare plans/formulas/recipes anyway so theres really no point in sinking money into them until you're 60.

One exception would have to be alchemy as people allways needs pots but this needs herbalism as well and you usually wont make a killing on this until you can pick some of the rarer herbs which, alas, comes later then level 40.

Allthough this is only semi-true, it's a good guideline for getting that mount at 40. Skinning and mining is so amazingly easy to make money off its allmost not funny.

Fishing is good too. Oily blackmouth and firefin snappers make good cash on the ah, and although I'm not high enough yet I hear stonescale eels make a killing.
