Red face Mod Help with Color Blind Players?

Hello,

I have this friend I got into playing World of Warcraft. Only thing is, is that he is color blind. Can not decipher between what might be epic and what might be junk besides stats that might be on it or if a mob is red or orange compared to green and yellow. I was wondering if there was a mod out there that would tell someone if an Item was green or blue or epic or just junk. Or if the mob that a person is about to fight is with in thier level range instead of relying on the color of the number of the mob. If there isn't a mod out there would it be too difficult to create a mod just for this problem? I would greatly appreciate it very much of someone could direct me to a mod that meets this need or if someone could create a mod for me for this need. I appreciate all comments concerning this subject and any or all suggestions hugs thanks again :)

There were a couple but it looks like none have been updated since TBC. Not much help to you, sorry :( .

I don't have an all-in-one solution for you I'm afraid.

However.
cbTooltipRarity on this page will provide you with textual descriptions of item rarity on the tooltips.

Fizzwidget's Levelator will add recommended level and party size to Quest descriptions.

I don't have a recommendation for showing critters level and disposition at this moment, but I'll post back if something comes to mind.

For seeing if a mob is within you your level range your friend may want to try this: SizeUpGizmo. Essentially it gives you a Unit Frame, Slider, and Icon (using the PetHappieness icons) to give you visual reference on how that fight MAY turn out. So you friend can glance at the gizmo and tell if the fight is going to be an easy fight or just suicide. Look for the update version at the following link: http://wow-en.curse-gaming.com/files...-gizmo-redone/

EDIT: I got afflicted with the debuff "Bad Spelling"

I patched up a version of Colorblind for you to make it compatible with BC.

ColorBlind

* Moneys - Replaces coins with letters (g, s, c).
* MonoCombo - Turns the red dots in the Combo-point display white.
* QuestLogLevels - Shows the levels of your quests by their titles, eg. '[60] Servant, fetch me a newspaper (Raid)'.
* Tooltip_Rarity - Shows the rarity/quality of an item in it's tooltip. 99.9% stolen from Micah's ColorBlind. (Why reinvent the wheel? <3)
* TradeskillGains - Shows how likely you are to gain skill from crafting an item, represented by pluses. (+++ = always gain, ++ likely to gain, etc.)
* UnitReaction - Shows an NPC's reaction towards you in their tooltip. (Hated, Revered, etc.)
* ComparativeLevel - Shows an NPC relative level toward you and their classification in their tooltip.
((+5)[r+] = 5levels higher than you and RareElite
+++ = boss or too high,
--- = too low level/gray,
n = normal,
r = rare,
r+ = rareelite,
+ = elite etc)

Commands:
'/cblind' shows the information listed below.
'/cblind mono' to make mob name and mob reaction plain white.
'/cblind color' to make them have the color appropriate for the mob.
'/cblind coins' to show coins.
'/cblind letters' to replace the coins with letters.
'/cblind qlevels' to toggle showing quest levels.

Known caveats:
* When you switch from letters display for money (60g 26s 57c) to coins display the UI will reload
* Tooltips when you mouseover the target frame have the UnitReaction and Relative level info added in 2 lines.
Tooltips of mobs that you mouseover work fine.

Hope it helps.

Question Red text

I've tried ColorBlind, and it seems a good effort but doesn't address my particular handicap, which is Low Vision. To cut to the chase, I simply can't see red text. I can't see what level skill is required to learn a new recipe, I can't see how much an item is when I cdon't have enough gold with me, and the only way I can see quests that are way out of my level range (like seasonal quests) is to highlight them. (The red text is then visible on the yellow background.)

I know there's a variable, something like TEXT_COLOR_RED, and I thought it would be a nifty thing to remap this to a more visible value-- with a little green and blue, just to increase the luminance. Theoretically, it should then show the new color when the system sets text to that value. However, looking through my .lua files, I can't find this variable used.

I think I can code a quick and dirty LowVision addon, but (1) what is the name of this variable? (2) Am I going to run into big problems simply setting it to another value? Thanks!
